Will I receive a Certification Card for completing an online training course?
You will not receive a Certification Card. For online courses, you will receive a Certificate of Online Training in both a wall and wallet-sized version that looks like this.
Why won’t I receive a Certification Card for completing an online emergency care training course?
You won’t receive a Certification Card for completing an online emergency care training course because practical skill evaluations are a necessary part of all courses offered by reputable organizations that issue emergency care Certification Cards for courses with practical skill components such as adult and pediatric first aid, CPR, basic life support (BLS), and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS).
What is the difference between a Certificate of Online Training and a Certification Card?
A Certificate of Online Training verifies that you successfully completed online training. A Certification Card verifies that you successfully demonstrated skill competency in the presence of a qualified and authorized instructor.

How do I receive a Certification Card after completing the online training course?
To receive a Certification Card, you will have to practice the required skills and demonstrate your skill competency in the presence of a qualified and authorized instructor.

If I need a Certification Card, how long do I have to complete the skill portion after completing the online training?
If you need a Certification Card after completing the online training, you should schedule a skills session within 60 days.
Other companies that sell online training provide a Certification Card that I can download and print out immediately. Why doesn’t HSI?
HSI does not provide Certification Cards for its online training because practical skill evaluations are a necessary part of all courses offered by organizations that issue Certification Cards. As a nationally accredited organization, HSI is required have in place a credible, documented process for practical skills exams for all participants prior to permitting a Certification Card to be issued.

I’ve taken CPR many times. Can I challenge the course to get a Certification Card?
Yes. Anyone is eligible to challenge the course and earn an ASHI or MEDIC First Aid Certification Card. There are no lessons or teaching in a Challenge. Participants are solely responsible and must be prepared to take a written exam and skill test. The instructor’s activities are limited to administering the written exam and carrying out the skill tests. Does my ASHI and MEDIC First Aid Certification Card license me to perform first aid or CPR?
The ASHI and MEDIC First Aid Certification Card is not a license. The Certification Card verifies that you were able to satisfactorily perform the required skills at the time you successfully completed training.
When do I receive my certificate?
You receive your Certificate of Online Training immediately after completing the course.
